CEFR Level A2 – Elementary User (Waystage)
1. Course Objectives
By the end of the A2 level, learners will be able to:

Understand isolated sentences and frequently used expressions.

Communicate in simple and routine tasks.

Describe their background, environment, and daily activities.
-
Participate in short social exchanges.
-
Express preferences, opinions, intentions, and basic needs.
2. Course Content (Weekly Outline)
Week 1 – Review of A1 & Foundations
Themes: Introductions, daily life
Skills: Reformulating, asking for clarification
Grammar: Present tense review, articles, subject pronouns
Vocabulary: Personal life, work, hobbies
Goal: Reactivate A1 knowledge to enter A2
Week 2 – Talking About the Past
Themes: Telling simple stories, past experiences
Skills: Describing events and sequences
Grammar: Passé composé (with avoir/être), time markers
Vocabulary: Travel, activities, outings
Activities: “My weekend”, describing an experience
Week 3 – Giving Opinions & Preferences
Themes: Likes, dislikes, opinions
Skills: Expressing agreement/disagreement, simple arguments
Grammar: Opinion verbs + structures (je pense que…, je trouve que…)
Vocabulary: Movies, culture, leisure
Activities: Mini-debate, discussion about a film
Week 4 – Home & Environment
Themes: Describing housing, cities, neighborhoods
Skills: Locating, describing, asking for information
Grammar: Prepositions of place, comparative forms
Vocabulary: House, city, transportation
Activities: Describe your neighborhood / understand a housing ad
Week 5 – Plans & Intentions
Themes: Future plans, personal goals
Skills: Expressing intentions and future actions
Grammar: Near future (futur proche), introduction to simple future
Vocabulary: Travel plans, weekend activities
Activities: Planning a trip / organizing a social outing
Week 6 – Practical Everyday Situations
Themes: Shopping, health, simple administration
Skills: Asking for help, making polite requests
Grammar: Polite conditional (je voudrais, j’aimerais)
Vocabulary: Bank, post office, pharmacy
Activities: Role-plays: at the pharmacy / information office
Week 7 – Social Interaction
Themes: Invitations, apologies, congratulations
Skills: Managing short social exchanges
Grammar: Indirect object pronouns (lui, leur)
Vocabulary: Social expressions and formulas
Activities: Invitation role-plays: inviting, accepting, refusing
Week 8 – Global Comprehension & Oral Production
Themes: Simple news and media
Skills: Summarizing, presenting simple information
Grammar: Logical connectors (first, then, however, therefore)
Vocabulary: News, society, everyday events
Activities: Present a short piece of information / oral summary
